The Final Climb: Our Story

The Final Climb Inc. is a non-profit organization established in 2017 to continue the work of a remarkable man, Andy Harvard. Andy was a mountain climber, attorney, business leader and director of the Dartmouth Outing Club.

He excelled at everything he did. But his true gift was inspiring young people to work together and take on the challenges facing their communities at a local and national level. To Andy, this was the essence of great leadership. 

Andy’s life was cut short by Younger Onset Alzheimer’s disease.

Inspired by Andy and to continue his legacy, we support initiatives in two priority areas: 

• Leadership Training through Conservation and the Outdoors

• Dementia Awareness & Research

Our Vision

Leadership Training

At The Final Climb, our flagship project is Leadership Training under the banner of the Andy Harvard Leadership Initiative (AHLI).

Our mission is to support the training of new generations of leaders and team builders through conservation and the outdoors.

We are supporting programs at the Dartmouth Outing Club and the Student Conservation Association’s Urban Green project.

Dementia Awareness & Research

Since our founding, we have been working tirelessly to raise awareness, accelerate research and destigmatize Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders, such as PSP and FTD.

TFC board members played an instrumental part in developing the forthcoming documentary series “Defeating Dementia” slated for broadcast on PBS. We have also helped establish the 10K Brains Project, a non-profit that aims to raise $200m to fund cutting edge scientific research.
